What is Baptism?
What Baptism Is
Baptism is a public celebration that you have given the leadership of your life over to Jesus Christ by embracing his grace.
What Baptism Is Not
Baptism is not what saves you. Your relationship with Jesus Christ as the leader of your life is the only thing that can save you.
Why Be Baptized?
- To follow the example of Jesus
At that time Jesus came from Nazareth and was baptized by John in the river. Mark 1:9
- Because Jesus commands you to do it in obedience
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:18-20
- To demonstrate to our community of faith that I am a follower of Jesus.
…many of the people who him believed and were baptized. Acts 18:8
When Should I Get Baptized?
As soon as you make a commitment to give the leadership of your life over to Jesus Christ!
The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. Acts 16:29-33
